This is a tough one. It’s so evident that it’s a dupe for MMM’s Replica Jazz Club. All the notes are there and it is a great fragrance but it’s right there, nice and what was asked for. However, JC has an “it” that Sax does not and the weird part is I can’t tell you what “it” is other than JC is almost an addicting, polarizing fragrance that I keep wanting to bury my nose into and Saxophone just doesn’t. That’s not a dig bc it’s plenty good. There’s just something not quite right. I’ve told people to try this before JC bc if you don’t know to compare, and it’s your type of fragrance, you’ll love it. But once you know, you just know and it is what it is. While it is unisex I think it leans masculine initially and dries down masculine leaning unisex but softer. JC is unisex and dries down feminine leaning unisex but still great for a man, no doubt. If this formula had a touch more vanilla I think it would be that much better. That said, this is still good and it makes a fantastic room spray - seriously. It’s delish for that!! As far as projection, it’s phenomenal. I’m a heavy sprayer with lots of my light, soapy, clean or citrus frags but not with Sax. Do not overspray. In fact, under spray. Try half a spray. It’s going to project and it’s going to last and it’s not a safe blind buy at least not for most women. But it is GOOD and if you are ready for a spicy, yet creamy, boozy vanilla with a bit of smoke you’re going to get exactly what you asked for. Though it’s not a typical aquatic or citrus or very cologne-similar-safe buy I do think it’s safer to say blind buying for a man would be worth it and others will enjoy how he smells. It’ll last on skin through the day and come evening you’ll want to nuzzle your chin into his neck and feel that comforting blend of your man and his day of frag melted into his skin. It’ll last on clothing for days, until next wash for sure and maybe even longer. It’s a cooler weather fragrance for me but I’ll still spritz it in the air now and then to get that warm breath of comforting nostalgia. I won’t be buying a second bottle but that’s only bc a bottle of this will prob last for years including using it on body and in room. Same goes for Jazz Club which I have. If I run out, I’d just get a 10 ml Sephora travel size to last another year+.
I feel like my review is bias though and I’m telling you try this before JC if you’re considering a blind buy but wondering if you should sample the OG first somewhere… and more than likely it’s problem solved and you’ll be smitten. Let me also say that some other MMM-R’s fade relatively faster than other frags out there, not so with JC and Alts version is even far superior over that! You’re getting your money’s worth and then some. I also need to mention as always that Alt makes dupes for two of my favorite perfumes in all the land, Byredo Blanche and MMM Replica Bubble Bath and of course I had to try Alt’s dupes which are White and Suds. I thought they’d be nice backups since the others, esp Byredo are expensive. Well, I am a believer. I still have my originals and maybe always will bc I love them so, but Alt nailed them both and I reach for them over the originals almost always thanks to them being nearly identical and maybe actually better AND last longer! Alt ROCKS!! I’ll be a fan and supporter and customer until the end.
